                                                       Part 3 

                        A new name and the new life of Shadow fang

He slowly opened his eyes the room was dark and his vison was blurred but he realised he was lying on a bed, he rubbed his eyes with his hoof to get his bearings as his eyes adjusted he saw that he was in what looked like a barracks. Beds just like his were on either side of him in a neat row there were beds 10 in all and his was smack bang in the middle, he slid off his bed putting all four legs on the floor looking down at his hoofs. He saw at what princess Luna and done to him looking around he found a wall mirror and walked over to it, his mouth fell open as he saw himself he was completely different. He was not a  Pegasus any more he was a bat pony as he unfolded his new wings were there was once feathers now there was what felt like skin, and his eyes were yellow as he looked around what was dark at first became more and more clear. Until the room as a clear as day were others would find it hard to see in the low light he could see very well just as he was looking around the door of the long room shot open making him jump, he turned around to see another bat pony walk in this one was wearing full armour and walking with a purpose. He marched strait up to the lone pony in the room just before he reach him he  recognised him as the pony that had recruited him, and the one that led him to princess Luna he stopped in front of him and looked him up and down before doing a complete circle of him. Looking him over he stopped back in front of him and said “Seen better but you’ll do follow me look lively now you’re a soldier now and more than that you’re a night guard look sharp.” He followed him out as they left he saw it was day time he looked at the pony with him and asked why he was up in the day time if he was a bat pony,the pony with him let out a laugh saying that just because most did not see them in the day does not mean they were not there. As they walked into a court yard he saw some ponies training they just walked past them till they reached a large double door, the old wooden door was reinforced with large steel brackets and large metal studs imbedded in the old wood. He looked up at the door his eyes finding the lone symbol on the door it was a large black shield but it was not flat it had a raised symbol, on its pure black surface a crescent moon of glistering sliver that shone in the sun light.

As the doors opened the shield and moon was split into two half’s and they walked in the pony with him said this was the armoury this is where you will get your armour fitted and pick our preferred weapon, as they walked in the sound of hammers hitting anvils and the sounds of weapons been forge was all that could be heard. They walked over to a pony at a small wooden desk in the middle of it all were a scruffy bat pony sat he was coved in soot and dirt, the pony that led him over to the pony at the desk. Said this was Scimitar he was a master weapon smith and master of the forge and that he would take it from here, adding at the end that the next time he saw him he wanted to see him in full armour. Scimitar gave a small chuckle that that and watched the his other walk out and close the doors behind him, Scimitar walked over to the now lone pony in his forge and said “One of the more interesting parts of my job it to give a new name to the new bloods.” The pony with him was just about to speak but he was cut off as Scimitar started to speak again, “I know you have a name what it is I don’t care you are now part of the night guard you were transformed into a bat pony you were not born so you need a new name keep your old one for your family but here you are called.” He stopped and had a small think rubbing his chin with his soot blackened hoof for a moment before smiling to himself and calling over the noise to stop at once so all could hear him. Just like that all the noise stopped and he began to call out “Brothers sisters let me introduce the newest member of the night guard!” Looking around the room then back to the pony in front of him “This is Shadow fang!” “Shadow fang your new life starts here” Shadow fang looked at him and said “I like it” Scimitar looked at him with a crooked smile and said “If you like that wait till you see your armour.” With that Shadow fang and Scimitar made their way to the armour and weapon racks.
